Date, Total Count, Count broken out by Department

    Greeting,

My supervisor has asked me to generate a report out of Raw Data tab in attached excel sheet that shows following: Date, Total Count, Count broken out by Department (should equal total)

I inserted a pivot table and a formula in yellow that shows the number of employees for any given date or period of the time but could not figure out what she wanted.

I really appreciate if I could get some help with this.

    Regards,

    Saeidian

Why then ALL the data in the pivot table?

    Thank you so much!

I came up with the Pivot Table solution but the RawData tap is the data set she provided me with.

    Regards,

Well, but you can play around with the pivot table and make as many combinations as you want.
Did the layout I sent you help a little?

You could also take a look at the user of slicers, google for that and you'll see you can accomplish a lot and all without macros
