    Daily Fuel Level Consumption

    Dear all

I have 3x diesel tanks which fuel our generators. Each tank holds 125000 litres of diesel. The generators run 24 hours a day currently. We take readings from each of the 3 tanks every morning and add them to our spreadsheet. We can work out the fuel consumption over the last 24 hours using simple math. That is the easy bit. It has got complicated however when we fill the tanks with more fuel. This completely screws the usage figure, putting it into minus. We have tried all sorts but cannot figure it out. You smart people have helped me in the past and hopefully can do the same.

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Philip,
My first impression and reading your formula, all numbers ARE negative, you're subtracting 0 - 8648 = -8648 and you add three minus value together the result stays negative

    Re: Daily Fuel Level Consumption

    You missunderstand.

if i have a reading of 1000 litres on day one then take a measurement on day 2 and the reading is 500 then the consumption is 500. simple.

if i have a delivery of 2000 litres AFTER i have taken the reading from day 1 then the reading on day 2 will show 2500 assuming i have used the same amount. however the daily usage with show as -1500 not 500.

i need a formula that disregards any fuel delivery on the usage column.

    i hope i make sense :-)

    Honestly? Nope.
You formula result is negative because you're subtracting a larger number then the input
