Sortable list with collapsable thumbnails

Hi all

I´m new to this forum and not an excel expert.
I´m trying to make a document that contains a long list of items. It should be possible to sort the list by data in different columns.
I want to have the option to show or hide all the thumbnails for the items, preferably without any macro or VBA.

First attempt of solving this is attached. By grouping of rows and letting pictures move and size with cells the show/hide function is ok, but the sorting only works for the first column I try. As soon as I sort on any other criteria it gets messed up.

Any ideas on why?
Or other better ways to get the two primary functions; table with sort and hide/show of thumbnails.

If pictures are shown, and I play around with sorting the "Name" column everything works, but if I for example click on "year" and sort descending, the pictures no longer match the rest of the data.
Is it only on my computer?

Haha, true!
I better focus on a way not using merged cells rather than trying to understand whats goofy with my example then.
