    Conditional Formatting

    Hi
Could anyone pls help - there's a sample workbook uploaded. What conditional formatting formula (and how/where do I input it within the conditional formatting menu option) do I need here - I'd like a flag my column A-C cell values, where they differ from my 'check' values irrespective of number/text format of numbers in either set of columns (I think VALUE needs incorporating into the formula?). Thanks

    Re: Conditional Formatting

I think you need to provide what you expect

=A2=E2 as a format criteria works with you you have provided, but as you talk of numbers and there are none, i suspect your sample is not representitive of reality

Re: Conditional Formatting regardless of cell value format e.g. text, number

Thanks Davsth for your reply. Many apologies for a not sensible sample. I hope re-attached will clarify better. The flag is for column A where it doesn't match check column and so flag will work regardless of any cell value formats in either column - text, number, formulae etc. Many thanks in advance

    Re: Conditional Formatting

    do you mean something like
    =NOT(OR(A2=E2,A2=VALUE(E2),E2=VALUE(A2)))

    or even
    =COUNTIF(E2,A2)=0

any closer to the desired results
