On introducing a number like e.g. 456 in a "number"-formatted cell (with no decimals) the sheet shows 4,56 .
I can only obtain the correct respresentation 456 when I introduce =456 in the cell.
I don't find the way to correct this. How to do it ?

Welcome to the forum.
There are instructions at the top of the page explaining how to attach your sample workbook.

Not sure if it's the same on a Mac, but on a PC it's File, Options, Advanced and under "Editing Options" look for "Automatically insert a decimal point" & uncheck it.
Thank you !
Nothing of the kind on Mac :-(
Subscription version Ms Excel for Mac Version 16.47.1
There is also a problem in simple addition (sum) : I now have to enter manually every inditvduale operator "+" between the numbers :-(
On a Mac, it's Excel - Preferences, then select the Edit section, then uncheck the 'Display this number of decimal places' option.

That's it ! This is different from the previous XLSX-version and tricky !
So far, so good, but I'm still looking for addition by clicking disparate cells, wthout having to interplace a "+"-sign. Selecting 2 subsequent cells makes only the latest tot be selected.
That's done now, thanks. I will tidy the thread for you.
Okay, that too is completely new (and cannot be reset ?)
You can enable Click to Add mode in the same Edit section in Preferences.
This doesn't work. No "Click to Add"-mode findable. Moreover, the Cmd-trick doesn't work either
It should be there - see attachment
I believe you, but in my Dutch version it should but is isn't.

I can't see that attachment. You need to click the Go Advanced button, then the Manage Attachments links, then upload the picture that way.
If Cmd doesn't work, does Ctrl?
Nope, I tried al buttons

In the latest Dutch EXCEL there is simply no "Enable Click to Add" as there always was before.
Maybe a stupid question, but are you sure the version number you originally shared in your profile was correct? A Google search told me that it was the 365 subscription version, but what you are saying points to a standalone version. What does it say on the splash screen when you launch Excel?
I asked for MS 365 in the shop and they installed it, but I don't see any reference to that on the parcel.
And on the splash screen when you launch it - what does it say? Does it look anything like mine?

No splash screen. A window full of templates
Screenshot, please! Every version should have a splash screen when you launch it!!!
What does it say about your version on the File | Account page?
Sorry NO SPLASH SCREEN when I Launch. Here is what I get on launching (--> Google Translate) Attachment 727456
OK - I think it's just launching so fast you don't get the splash screen (or Mac doesn't have one, but as a Mac-hater, I wouldn't know for sure).
Sorry - I'm out of ideas. It all ooks as it should be. What does it say under File | Account?
What does a Mac-hater do on a Excel forum ? Excel was born, developed and educated on Mac while Dos/Windows were hooked on Lotus and denied Excel.
You may know that I hate everything Bill Gates & Co do ! Now he's in the vaccine-business, good luck !
Each to his own!
I joined in 2013 - Excel ws available for PCs long before that.
But back to the question: once again, WHAT does it say under File | Account in your copy of Excel?
I am trying to work out from these clues why your version might be missing the features you need.
I'm on Insider and my version is 16.49, so a little bit more up to date than 16.47.1
From the looks of the dialog, it appears that there is room there for the missing options, so perhaps they are yet to come in that version. I've never heard of a version that doesn't work using either the Ctrl or Cmd keys for multiple cell selections - perhaps it is a setting in your Keyboard options in system preferences?
OK, there is probably no problem in the Engoish version, but they installed a Dutch version on my Mac . A Dutch 16.49-version is probably not available yet
I see, this old-but-never-retiring engineer is talking to a young and smart ICT-girl. I gave you all I had about my EXCEL-version bought yesterday. But this doesn't matter .... It's always English first. I know this for a long long time.....
I've just checked and 16.47 appears to be the latest non-Insider channel build, so that's not a language thing.
but probably not yet available in Dutch format ... I 'll ask my dealer.
You said you have 16.47. Also, it will update automatically, you don't need to contact your dealer.
Indeed, 16.47.1 (Dutch version) and missing some basic features I had before :-(
