Parsing cell - converting Text to Columns, delimiter is a New Line

    Hello all,

I'm stumped on this issue and I'm hoping someone can help.

I am working with a database that can export to an Excel file, and each record has a field for "Equipment." When opened in Excel, all the equipment goes into a single cell per record. The delimiter within the cell is really a "new line," or "enter," but the text to column wizard does not have the option to choose that. The "Other" field for the delimiter does not allow [alt]+[enter]. Fixed width does not appear to work either.

I also tried to do a replace to swap out the new line for a comma, but have the same issue. There does not appear to be a way to find [alt]+[enter] -- if there were, the text to columns would work perfectly. The first column on the spreadsheet is parsed out when I manually put a comma at the end of each line.

I also experimented with exporting the data in different ways - no luck.

    Thank you for any help!

Select all the cells from B3 downwards, then click on Data | Text-to-columns and Select Delimited, then on the next panel select Other and in the box next to it do CTRL-J, then click on Finish in the dialogue box.

    Hope this helps.

Pete! Thank you so much! You're a genius!

I was looking all over for that information, but just couldn't come up with it.
