Keyboard Up & down arrows' behaviour

HI
Beginner here.
Office 2019
Within a cell, left and right keyboard arrows move the cursor one character, fine. They stop at the ends of the cell.

But Up arrow moves to start of cell and Down arrow to the end of the text in the cell.
Both the dedicated arrows keys and the keypad keys (with numlock off) do the same.

Scroll lock has no effect.

This means using the mouse to navigate around the page.

This has to be finger trouble, right? But I think I've searched enough.

What the heck am I missing!!??

I've tried rebooting and Repairing from MS.

Unable to replicate your problem with a multi-line text string When I "up" or "down" it does exactly that - moves up or down to the next line if text within that cell

With a single line of text, it does move to the start/end of the string.

Not really sure what you mean by "using mouse to navigate"...Thats kinda the normal way to do things?
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)

Thanks for the reply.

Each cell just has about 3 words in it.

MOving mouse to navitgate is the only way I can get the cursor where I want it.
I mean I can't use the keyboard to take me from one row to the next.

Arrows DO work for moving the border highlight around, but once I've clicked in a cell to edit the text, the arow keys don't get me out of that cell.

---------------------------------
Found it - I didn't realise there was an EDIT MODE.
You have to use F2 to toggle it if you have "Enable editing in cells" checked in Options>Advanced.
I'd never seen that before! It's not fully explained in the Help.

Another option would be to just hit the ENTER key?

Re: Keyboard Up & down arrows' behaviour

Thanks guys.
I'd looked up how to move the cursor to the cell above and it said up-arrow. It didn't say "But y'all know about modes, right?" !
