    Administrative Note:

We would very much like to help you with your query, however the thread title does not really convey what your request is about. Tell us what you are trying to do, not how you think it should be done.

Please take a moment to amend your thread title. Make sure that the title properly explains your request. Your title should be explicit and not be generic (this includes function names used without an indication of what you are trying to achieve).

Please see Forum Rule #1 about proper thread titles and adjust accordingly. To edit the thread title, open the original post to edit and then click on Go Advanced (bottom right) to access the area where you can edit your title.

(Note: this change is not optional. No help to be offered until this moderation request has been fulfilled.)

    Re: Help

This is what I posted earlier, but you have now changed your title:

Your title does not comply with the rules that govern thread titles (see menu above), so a moderator will probably come along soon to tell you to change it.

One way of solving your problem would be too use this formula in cell E2:

    =IF(OR(D2="A",D2="B"),MAX(E$1:E1)+1,"-")

Copy this down to the bottom of your first table - it identifies those students who match the criteria, giving each one a unique sequential number. Then you can use this formula in cell A20:

    =IFERROR(INDEX($A$2:$A$11,MATCH(ROWS($1:1),$E$2:$E$11,0)),"")

Copy this down until you start to get blanks.

    Hope this helps.

    You're welcome.

If that takes care of your original question, please take a moment to select Thread Tools from the menu above and to the right of your first post in this thread, and mark the thread as SOLVED.

Also, since you are relatively new to the forum, you might like to know that you can directly thank those who have helped you by clicking on the small "star" icon located in the lower left corner of a post that you have found to be helpful (not just in this thread - for any post that has helped you). This also adds to the reputation of the poster (the small green bars in the poster's profile).
