Question How to reproduce a pro-forma in Excel

    HI,

We had a person quit and took the master of this excel file.

I don't know bugger all about excel, so how hard would this be to re-create and how?

Does anyone think it's a template from someplace?

    Cheers'

    Re: very basic question

Hi and welcome to the forum.

It would probably take about 2 mins to recreate if there's no functionality built in. By that I mean if there's no calculations etc.
If there is we'd need to know what the calculations are and it could easily be replicated.

Although to me it looks like it's been printed out and therefore completed with a pen(?)

    Re: very basic question

    Hi Buoy,

No, it's not very complex, its a just a form they made and took when they left. We go thru it and finish it in pen and there are no formulas or calc's in the file.

I have all the text from an OCR I did but I just don't know how to format that stuff in Excel being a total newbie. I'm also guessing that it was in Excel but I'm not
    100% sure of course.

The text is easy enough to make anyway, the tricky part for me is putting it in to excel ...... it wouldn't have been done with a wizard or something do you think?

I just has a look at the file you attached, and yep - that's pretty much it. So HOW did you do it (grin) and thanks I'm gonna steal that and use it!

    Cheers'

Already put one together and attached it to my previous post for ya.

Should be printer friendly but you'll need to give that a test.

    Re: very basic question

Simply a case of changing the widths of a few columns, merging a few cells and typing out what you had on your picture of the form and applying some borders.
Nothing complicated when you know what you're doing

Steal it and use it all you need

    Re: very basic question

    Thanks !

I will do that ..... I'll just cut and pate it as I need and figure out how to get the gaps to
appear on the sheet and work on those borders .....

Can you suggest any decent tutorials anyplace?

    Thanks again !

    Re: very basic question

Tutorials for this type of thing? Not sure about that I'm afraid.

There are icons in the ribbon at the top of Excel that will allow you to merge cells and add borders. Simply a case of highlighting the cells you want to merge and/or add a border to then clicking the icon.

Give me a shout if you get stuck at all.

Lol, this reminds me of reverse engineering stuff. Love when people give us stuff like this. And i concur that if it has no build in functions can just recreate the page. If you then have functionality needed, ask as well. I bet there is someone that can built your functionality if you need it.
