Making data in one worksheet appear in another worksheet

I apologize if i am asking a question that has been hammered in the ground. I have searched the forums but i dont know the correct term for what i want to do.
Here goes.
I have two worksheets in the same workbook, sheet1 and sheet2. I would like the data in certain cells of sheet2 to appear in sheet1. When I type = in sheet1 then click the cell in sheet2 that i want to appear in sheet1 it show 0 or #value! , depending on the type of data I want linked. The data I want linked are dates, names, monied amounts and such, not formulas.
If anybody has any suggestions i would appreciate it.

Background info: This is for a Rent Roll spreadsheet i am creating for rental property I own.
