combining fixed text with a value of a cell

    Hi all,

I'm fairly new to excel , and I have some trouble combining a fixed text with a cell value (if it is possible)
I can't use two cells next to eachother, so I want to combine a fixed text with a cell value.

    So let's say Cell A1 has value : 0001
    And I want Cell B1 to read : Number : 0001

is this possible or am I chasing windmills ?
    regards
    Jerry

If 0001 is in A1 (put an apostophe first or the leading noughts will disappear leaving a single number 1). Type "Number : " (note the spaces, but don't include the quotes) in A12 (could use any cell that is out of the way). Put this formula in B1 =CONCATENATE($A$12,A1). In B1 will appear "Number : 0001". Copy B1 downwards as required.

Another example here: http://www.exceltip.com/st/Combining...Values/52.html But you will have to adapt this tip to suit.
