New User - Pasting absolute references

    Hi All

I'm trying to link 4 adjoining cells from one sheet to 4 adjoining cells but multiple rows on another sheet.

I'd like the linked cell refs to be absolute.

    Any ideas?

    Many thanx in advance

To make your cell addressess absolute, use $ signs, i.e., $A$1 will always be $A$1 wherever cell you move it to.

To make a cell address absolute, go to this particular cell in your formula and then press F4.

There isnt a formula as such...I'm selecting 4 adjoining cells on a row from 1 worksheet and then selecting 4 adoining cells on a row in another work sheet, right click 'paste' then selecting 'link cells' then manually typing the '$' in each of the linked cell refs.

    hope this makes sense.

I'm sorry but this time, I cannot make out what you are trying to do.

I'll try and explain...the excel file we are working on is effectively our product database, we have a main worksheet which contains all products we sell, we also have worksheets behind the main worksheet listing the products by manufacturer. Because a product could be listed numerous times in the main worksheet I want to control certain data from the manufactures worksheets which is why i'm trying to link the cells.

if i use a filter to show all instances of one particular product and try to paste the cell links from its manucturer worksheet it pastes them as relative so they are totally wrong.

Not sure if thats any clearer - lol
