Drop down menu in Excel worksheet

Hi
I am trying to put a drop-down menu in excel but don't know how to proceed.

I am preparing a survey and all I have are some questions which need to be answered in 1 TO 5. I want to have a drop down menu in one cell where a person can select a number between 1 to 5 and that cell shows the selected number after the person has made the selection. Thats basically all.

I would really appreciate any input on this please.

You could try data validation. Input the various responses somwehere on the worksheet e.g. A1 - A5. Then from the menu select Data / Validation. In the allow list select List, click on the little box to the right of the source box and then highlight the range with the responses in. Then press return and then OK, you will see that a down arrow appears in the cell, click on this and you will see your responses. You can then copy and paste this cell to other if required.
N.b. this validation will prevent somebody inputting a value other than those defined in that cell.
