While creating a macro in Excel 2000, was given the option to save to a
"Personal Workbook". Cannot find in 'Help' any explanation for just what a
"Personal Workbook" is and what one would do with it!

Personal.xls is a 'special' workbook that is stored in the Excel startup
directory. Because of this, it is loaded every time that Excel starts, it is
always there, but you wouldn't know as it is hidden (you can see it if you
go to menu Windows>Unhide).
It tends to be used to store macros that you want to be generally available,
such as macros that you assign to custom toolbar buttons, or to build extra
menus.
