    Formatting a column of dates

I've a column of dates in dd-mm-yy(22-Aug-06). Ineed to format them all in mm/dd/yy(08/22/06). How can I get the "Format Cells" command to do this for the entire column? right now, I seem to have to double-click on each cell- what's the smart way? Thanks

Or if you're lazy like me, just enter Ctrl + 1 to access the Format Cells box.
