    Question Password protecting worksheets

    Hi

Seems a basic thing to do but I just can't figure it out! Is there a way to individually password protect worksheets within a workbook. I am outsourcing a shared workbook to various regions and would like it so that they can only access their relevant worksheet.

    FYI - I am running Excel 97.

    Many thanks

    Nick

    Hi Nick,

From what you are describing, the easiest would be within VBE (Alt F11)
    to select your sheets
    press F4 for properties
    and selectively hide them ...

    Good afternoon nickbarthram

There is no native way to do this within Excel - as Carim says, making the sheets xlVeryHidden is probably the best way, but by no means secure.

In terms of ease of use, I have a template available that will allow you as administrator to decide who has access to which workshets. Anyone accessing the workbook has to provide a username and password, and they will be able to see only the sheets that you have specified (all other sheets would be xlVeryHidden). You, as administrator, will be able to access all sheets. If you want this send me an e-mail or PM me your e-mail address.

This method is not 100% secure - that said Excel is not a secure environment and ANY kind of protection within Excel can be removed.
