    Need help--Is this possible?

I will have a set of data in one column--ISBNs The next column will have a quanity for that row's ISBN.

I want to be able to enter an ISBN (like make an enter field of some sort) and each instance that it is entered (will actually scan it) it tallies it up in a third column. The fourth column will then give a positive or negative difference.

It's an inventory checker of sorts.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,

Yes it is possible for any kind of items ... books, cds, etc ...
For a precise and tailor-made solution, why don't you upload a sample worksheet in a zipped format ...?

Thank you for the quick response. Attached is what my inventory looks like when I export it to Excel (pretty simple).

The third column I am looking for it to count every time the ISBN is entered in an enter field. A fourth column to have the difference between the second column and the third column. (perhaps having an automatic highlight if they are not even?).

When I select a particular ISBN in cell 5 it does not change its quanity. To change quanity I do not want to touch the keyboard. I have a scanner that will scan ISBNs and everytime the scanner scans one I want it to add one to that ISBN's Nb (how you have it labeled) field. Follow me?

The original file I posted there are two columns. One is the ISBN column, the other is the quanity that is on hand. Thus, each row has an ISBN and its quanity. These two columns would never change....

I want to be able to physically scan my ISBNs. When I scan the ISBN, I would like to have Excel find that particular ISBN row and when it does find it, it adds a quanity of one to that row to a new third column. A fourth column would then note the difference, if any, between column two and three.

Let's just deal with one row. The product in Column A are apples; column b is how many apples I think I currently have. I want to be able to check my apples and every time I touch one excel counts it, keeping track of the touches in column c. Column D then let's me know the difference between what I actually have to what I thought I have. A stock checker. I am trying to avoid touching the keep board here...

Does this help? Thank you so much for being patient and helping out with this.

Believe or not I do not need a childish explanation based on apples to understand a business requirement ...

Just compare the first paragraph of your last post to your previous explanations ...

Attached is what you requested ...

I am sorry if you feel I was condesending; it was really not my intention. I just wanted to explain it the simpliest way possible.

There seems to be a problem--at least to me. The first time I put in an ISBN in the input field it does exactly what I asked and how you made it. It tallies one for for nb quanity and the difference column does its magic.

When I enter an ISBN into the input field for a second time it does not tally it up.

Does the same thing happen for you or anyone else?
