Breakeven chart - won't start at zero

    Hi guys.
Desperate for some help in producing a breakeven chart for my assignment. I have a data table using the values given but the chart won't start at zero ie when sales are zero, variable costs are zero but fixed costs are 17500.

I'm not very good at Excel - having been largely self-taught - so I would appreciate very simple instructions if anyone can help!!

I hope I have attached a copy of the data table and graph to show what I've done.

Many many thanks for anyone who can help.

    Hi,

Not sure what you are asking for, if fixed costs are as shown, ie not zero, then there is no zero, the chart appears correct.

Would you like to specify where you would like the 'zero' to be? - the only possibility from your .jpg would seem to be in the category x labels, currently 1 to 8, to re-number those as 0 - 7 then set 0 - 7 in a new column and define that column as your category x labels.

    more?

    Hi.

Many thanks for the reply. I probably hadn't explained myself properly as I wanted a x,y value of 0,0 for sales and variable costs as with no sales, there should be no variable costs.

Thanks to your reply I realised I hadn't set the X value properly as they should have been using the output column and then I changed it to a scatter graph and hey presto - it works!!

So many thanks for your reply as it prompted me in the right direction.

very very grateful to you for your help.
