    Question Descending Sequence

Okay, I am an Excel Dummy. I have a "for dummies" book on my lap right now and excel opened but I still don't understand. By the way, I got a degree in machine design and multimedia design but failed my excel class. Go figure. So I am not normally stupid. But when it comes to excel, I can't do a thing.
I am trying to make a chart (weight loss chart). I need column A to descend in numbers and row 1 to ascend in numbers. I don't want to type out each one. How do I make this happen? I tried the auto-fill but after 20 minutes I only managed to copy the number in the first box, and eventually had it ascend but can't get it to descend. What am I doing wrong and where online can I find extremely simple tutorials?

    Thank for any help.

I posted this in the newbie section but thought it had a better chance of being seen here.

    Hi,

    in A1 A2 A3 put 19 18 and 17 and select (highlight) the 3 cells, then formula-drag downwards for a descending sequence.

http://www.contextures.com/tiptech.html is a starting point for such tips.
