Make Excel "auto suggest" words from a list

I am an absolute Excel beginner. If, for example, I have a column of cells with previously entered city names, I want Excel to look at the previous entries and "suggest" a city as I begin to type. For instance, I type the character "A" and Excel shows me Acworth, Alpharetta and Atlanta.

    Hi,

Try tools > options > Edit tab and make sure enable autocomplete is ticked.

or you could create a pick list which would autocomplete (see link)

Thank you, I'm guessing it won't work if you have blank cells breaking up the entries. I'm older and it helps me to read if I leave a blank line of cells in between each entry.

Once the blank cells are gone,right-click on th cell where you want your value and choose ..."Pick from list" to populate (autocomplete is much easier, though)
