No more new fonts may be applied...

    Hello!

As I tried to copy and paste a chart in my workbook (my intention to change the source data), I received a dialogue box that told me "No new fonts may be applied in this workbook". I clicked the OK several times, my chart did copy, and I was able to change the source data. However, that same message kept popping up, and I kept clicking OK. This same message appears if I'm on a chart page and attempt to Print Preview.

This workbook has a lot of charts in it, however I would like to have a lot more yet. Have I reached a memory limit? Is there any way to change settings and work around this?

Thank you for any help and ideas you may have!

    Mimi

I'm going to give it a try!

Thank you so much!! I think I will try manually clearing the Autoscale on my existing charts, versus programmatically disabling the Autoscale. I'll let you know how it comes out. Your help was quick in coming and right on the money -- thanks!

    Problem solved

Hi! Yes, I saw the additional links -- thanks. All auto scales have been unchecked, and I'm adding more charts. Thank you!

    Excel not cooperating

I've followed the directions at Microsoft for disabling the Auto scale feature in the future. No problem.

But when I go to remove the autoscale check on my existing charts, it gives me the same error about not allowing more fonts. So I'm in a catch 22 here. I can't have more, but I can't have less either.

I tried the VB code from the Microsoft website and the code from the Peltier link and neither give me errors, but they also don't remove the check box. The Microsoft one does pop-up the message box stating that it altered all the charts, but there's no change as far as I can tell.

I even put a small troubleshooting messagebox in the code in an if statement right after the value should be set to FALSE so that if it is FALSE, pop up a window that says simply, "Yeah!". I get a bunch of "Yeah!" boxes, but no change on the charts.

    ???????????????

    Help!

Nevermind. I got to thinking about it and realized I hadn't tried the age old, tried and true Microsoft-fix-everything option; Reboot, reboot, reboot. After each time that I rebooted and went in and ran the Macro, a few more charts would drop the check mark. And it wasn't one sheet at a time either. It wasn't even groups of charts in a row on the same sheet. It appeared completely random. But, nevertheless, after a couple reboots and opening and closing Excel about a dozen times, I was successful in getting all the charts fixed.

Many thanks to the brains that keep this site humming.
