'If' Function.

Ive played around with excel a bit but never used the IF function.

My problem is:
I have a milestone tracker system which has dates set for when a certain task must be complete.
What Id like to do is turn a cell red when the date passes, but Im damned if I can suss out how to automate this function?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is it possible to copy the conditional formatting to several different cells with different dates, or do I need to format each individually?

If you have set it just to one cell, then you can use the Paintbrush icon to copy to the other cells. Or you can select all the cells in the range then set the CF, but make sure on $ signs are around the cell reference
