Formatting a persons name upon entry

Hi, I need to take a column of names, with each cell formatted as First Last, to be Last, First. I know how to sort the columns by the last name in alphanumeric order, but I don't know how to auto format names to reverse the first and last name and put a comma between them. Any suggestions?

    Hello jason102,

    Welcome to the Forum!

This macro will take the names you have selected in a column and reverse the order. This works as long as the names have only 2 parts first and last.

    Adding the Macro
    1. Copy the macro above pressing the keys CTRL+C
    2. Open your workbook
    3. Press the keys ALT+F11 to open the Visual Basic Editor
    4. Press the keys ALT+I to activate the Insert menu
    5. Press M to insert a Standard Module
    6. Paste the code by pressing the keys CTRL+V
    7. Make any custom changes to the macro if needed at this time
    8. Save the Macro by pressing the keys CTRL+S
    9. Press the keys ALT+Q to exit the Editor, and return to Excel.

    To Run the Macro...
To run the macro from Excel, open the workbook, and press ALT+F8 to display the Run Macro Dialog. Double Click the macro's name to Run it.

    Sincerely,
    Leith Ross

Thanks for the macro! It works perfectly the way it should, but I get an error when I have a column title, "Name", in the first cell of the column, which obviously the macro cannot understand. Is there a way to modify the code in order for this to work based upon a user selection? For instance, it would be great if I could select a specific range in the column and only have the macro execute on those items? In this case I have a header row that cannot be read by the macro.

    Hello Jason102,

If you are referring to the macro I posted, it is designed to work only on the cells you select. Even if you include the header, there shouldn't be an error.

    Sincerely,
