    Very Basic Excel Question

So I am a VERY basic Excel user and I have a slight problem.

    I have a Column A with 501 numbers
    I have a Column B with 501 numbers
At the bottom of each of those 2 Columns I have inserted formulas to determine
    ROW501 - Standard Deviation
    Row502 - Mean

I am trying to create 2 new columns which will spit out the Z Score for each Stat into a new Column.

The formula I have hacked up is:

    =((A1-A502)/F501)

That seems to spit out the Z Score just fine (though I am sure there must be a better way.

The question I have is how to copy this formula into the rest of the column without it completely messing up. For example when I try and drag it into the next row the formula then says:

    =((A2-A503)/A502)

    Which is completely wrong:
    I'd rather it say:

    =((A2-A502)/F501)

So basically I only want it to change the A1 to an A2 and so on as the column continues on down.

Hopefully this makes sense, I am sure that I am sort of butchering everything, but I basically have never learned Excel and I am trying to do some number crunching for a hockey draft I am in!

    Thanks a ton in advance!

    Hi
Insert $ signs in front of all the references you want to fix - called "Absolute" references. eg.

For speed you can do this by pressing F4 when you are editing your formula and highlighting the bit of the formula you want to anchor.
