Workbook Events for any Workbook

Hi Folks,
My inexperience has created quite a dilemma. I have Excel 2000 and have written code for one workbook through the “This Workbook” section of VB. I was using the “New Sheet”, “Selection_Change” and TRIED the “Workbook Open” events. I have a feeling I am going about this all-wrong.
My code works great for the coded workbook adding sheets etc. My project has expanded to using the same code with any named workbook. I guess I just don’t have the basic understanding of the structure I should use. How should I approach having my code in the background of any opened workbook? An addin seems attractive. I think I need an understanding of these workbook events outside of the workbook objects. How can I write code for these events for any active workbook?

You can do what you're seeking by using your "personal.xls" file. Please see the following site from Microsoft explaining the process. You can also search the web for other uses of personal.xls in Excel.

If you're looking to share your macros with others, an add-in would be better. There are many examples of how to create an add-in on the web and some in this forum as well.
