    Formatting Charts

    Hello,

I would like to know if it’s possible to format the chart which I have attached. The chart area is too small and I'm trying to get it to fit the screen as the legend on the side is not showing labels completely. I wonder if this is possible. Also whether it would be possible to amend the data labels on the chart to have either % or the word days at the end of the value.

It is based off of figures on another table and the values are percentages and numbers.

Hope this makes sense, if not please let me know.

Any help appreciated, thanks in advance.

You can adjust the size of the chart (visually) by changing the % size in the "Zoom" box of the Standard Toolbar manually to 120 or whatever number works best for you.

    Or
You could change the location of the chart to be embedded in a blank spreadsheet. Then you can grab the borders and make it whatever size and shape you desire.

You can right click on the data labels and format the number to custom 0.00"%" or 0.0 days.

Any of this work for you?

If you have xl2003 or previous you can use,

Tools > Options > Chart > Active chart > Chart Sizes with window frame

You can use a free addin to link data labels to cells.

Although you will need to unmerge current cells or create another column containing information you want to display.

You may also want to consider using a bar chart rather than a column chart.
This will give you more room to display text.
And if you want full control over the layout of the text displayed this code example may help.

Thanks, I've followed the bolded and it seems to have done what I need, so I'll mark this solved. But I haven't been able to format the data labels without actually changing source cell formats. NVM.

Andy Pope, thanks for the links I will check them out and bar graphs does whats required too.
