    Excel worksheet cursor problem

When I pull up a saved Excel worksheet I can't click in a cell and get a cursor. One of the columns is blue to begin with before I do anything. When I go to a new cell, the cross remains and if I move it everything becomes blue as if you're going to copy it. Can't access the toolbar or anything else. All spreadsheets do the same thing. Worked all day yesterday and couldnn't solve it. Can only close the page by Ctrl/Alt/Delete. PLEASE HELP!!

Can you open other workbooks? Is your mouse okay? If you attach your workbook it would be simpler to pinpoint the problem.
There is so much good in the worst of us,
And so much bad in the best of us,
That it hardly behooves any of us
To talk about the rest of us.

    Excel worksheet cursor problemSolved

    Juda,
Thanks so much for the assistance. I solved the problem on my own after 2 days of frustration. The cells were highlighted blue like you were going to Ctrl C to copy the column. I just hit Ctrl C and copied them to other cells. They were then flashing with the broken blank outline. I went to an empty cell and hit backspace so the flashing border was gone. I deleted the copied cells and all is well now. I appreciate your effort to help. This is a fantastic forumn if you run into problems, I will absolutely use it again if I get confused. There is still lots for me to learn in Excel! Thanks again!!

Well, I'm glad you've fixed your issue! You are absolutely right about this forum being fantastic. I have received a ton of help since I joined. I'm still not near as smart as most of the folks here though!

I see you also figured out how to mark your post solved - good job. You can edit any of your posts this way - it comes in handy if you forgot to say something or if you said too much.

One cool part about this forum is the award system. So if you get an answer you really like, and want to thank the guy who helped you, you can click on the blue scales in the top right-hand corner of the post and say what you think.

Another cool feature is the user profile - you can get to it by clicking on the member's name. There you can add more information about yourself, write messages, and all kinds of other stuff.

If I can help you out in any way, don't hesitate to let me know. Have a great day, and welcome to this forum!
