    problems with IF function

    Hi guys,

I am stuck on a simple IF function pls help.

=IF(A2="",A1,A2) - when the logical test = true it's giving me a blank cell (instead of giving me the value of A1). However when the logical test = false, there seems to be no problem (it does give me the value of A2).

can anybody pls help, or suggest a better formula if possible.

    Thanks

Do you have your autocalc turned off? (Hit F9 to make it calculate if not)
Also, mind uploading an example...just to see if there are any other factors? - as the formula is sound to what you are describing.

    -GWB,
    HI there,

I hit F9 and nothing seems to happen. I don't have any problems with my other functions, aside from this one ofcourse.

    Thanks for trying

    The formula is fine...

I would have to believe there is a simple explanation...Recheck the formula to make sure you have keyed it in correctly, that the values in A1 and A2 are there.....simple stuff. Without uploading the spreadsheet...it's all hypothetical what the issue could be. But as far as the formula you typed here, it is fine and should work.
