    summing continually growing column

I am trying to set up the rfollowing and need to know how to do the formula.

i have a column of values. 2 values to start. ie 45 and 40. i want a total cell at the bottom of the column that will sum the existing values. I want to be able to copy a blank row containing the formula so that i can have a third then fourth etc values in the collumn and have the total cell still add from 1st value to the current last. i have no idea how to do this but know it can be done bec ause i did it many years ago. so much for age. thx in advance.

The easiest thing to do would be to not put your sum function at the bottom of the column you are summing rather put it in an unused column or on another sheet then you can simply sum the entire column sum(a:a), anything you add to the column will be summed.

    Re: summing continually growing column

thx for input. i ended up using =(c9:c11) and inserting a new row at c10 for each day. works great. sums c9-c10 then c9-c11 etc as i insert rows. shrug may not be easiest but works great.
