    Generated Excel opened in different locale is not formatted propoerlr

    Hi,

    I have generated an excel file using java file, its default language is English-US.
    When i open that file in my pc in india, it opening correctly with propper formatting.
    But when my friend in italy open that file their in his system, its date formatting is not correct.

    See the screen shot attached. The Dates are not in proper format.

    Can any one tel me how to solve the problem?

    I believe dates are based on the locale set in the Control Panel under "Date/Time Language and Regional Options" (XP). If you change the date format here it should get reflected in Excel.

    Only workaround I can think of is to turn each date into a string but this may present problems if you are performing any date manipulation

    Hi,

    Thats correct, but the file which is generated is through a java program, and we must not change the local setting for that, but it must recognize the local settings and must open accordingly.
