Cell wrap text: Some cells have blank white space above text

Hi,
I frequently produce spreadsheets with wrapped text in many cells running down columns. Each time I get problems with blank white space above the text in some cells.
Sure - if I juggle the column width I can force the text to fill the cell. But a while later as I add more text in cells further down the same column, the blank space problem will happen on this new cell and I have to juggle the column width again. I will cure the new cell, but another one somewhere else will then get the problem of blank space above the text. It just shifts the problem.

Is there any way of keeping my column width fixed and forcing cells to wrap the text without the alignment problem ocurring?

I attach a typical extract from a current project showing some cells with the misaligned text.

Many thanks in anticipation of someone please curing this problem that drives me nuts!

Hi Stormseed.
No - unfortunately this does not work.

"Shrink to fit" literally shrinks the font size so the long lines of text are squashed into the column width and do not wrap.
I need the text to wrap, but to fit neatly into the cell. Most cells work fine. It's just these annoying few that just drive me mad.

I attach the results of using "Shrink to fit".

This looks like it works.
Is it the indent setting that is helping?
As I would rather not set row height if I can avoid it, because row heights vary quite a lot in this work depending on the amount of text.

Stormseed, can you please confirm how you corrected the first attached spreadsheet wrap1.xls to get rid of that white space??

I have the same problem with my workbook and no amount of formatting will correct it.

It seems to me that you just pasted the data into a new sheet. This is an unacceptable solution. We want to find the route of the problem.

Personally I think the best solution is simply to use Openoffice.org. Unfortunately my company doesn't feel the same way and I'm forced to use this buggy Microsoft bull$hit.

To clarify we want to be able to use Autofit and Wraptext AT THE SAME TIME without the random and mysterious white spaces.
