With Excel 2007, on the Data Tab of the ribbon is Remove Duplicates. This removes them in place.

If you want a unique list elsewhere without the duplicates while keeping the original list intact, use the advanced filter (same tab) and check off "Copy to a new Location" and "Unique records only." Advanced filter requires your column have a header and you can only copy to the same spreadsheet. (From there you can cut and paste whereever you like).
    Does that help?
