Use the Formula option:
=AND(LEN(H1)>0,NOT(ISNUMBER(H1)))
The LEN(H1)>0 part of the formula is to prevent blank cells from being colored as they are not numeric and Excel will apply the CF.
or, if you have no formulae generated nulls in the range
=ISTEXT(H1)
if you have Nulls another approach might be
=COUNTIF(H1:H1,"?*")
setting format accordingly for either/or
depending upon the actual formatting required you could also possibly just use a Custom Format - this would only be viable if you wish to colour just the font, eg: General;General;General;[red]@
(change General to specific number format if required)
EDIT: the Custom Format route would probably be preferred if viable given CF are deemed "super-volatile".
