Fill down a simple formula, holding one cell constant?

i can't figure out how to 'fill down' a simple formula, where I want to keep reference to one particular cell. For example, I want to calculate a value for each month, referring to a percentage of a value in a particular cell. When I fill down, how do I keep that one cell constant?

You need to make it an Absolute Reference... using $. See: http://spreadsheets.about.com/od/r/g...ute_cell_r.htm

if the % is in A1, it would be something like $A$1*B1
    1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)

Thank you, F. Dibbins, for the prompt and helpful reply.I have no idea about code, so regret that I am unable to put code in quotes as you asked. Perhaps this site is too sophisticated for me.

    glad to help

its not quotes, its the dollar sign. you need to put the dollar sign each side of the letter that references the cell your "constant" % is in. what cell is your constant in?
