Cool Copying from Word and pasting into Excel

There was a thing i used to do in the old Excel where I would copy a page of numbers from the net that had dashes between the numbers. I would then paste them into word then replace the dashes with a tab chracter, then copy this from Word and paste into Excel and each digit would be in a different column. I have tried this in Excel 2007 and it doesn't work. What am I doing wrong?

Why not just copy into Excel, use Text to Columns, and then set the dash as a delimiter?

    Hi,

Instead of copying into Word, why not once you have copied them from the Net into Excel, go to Data > Text to Columns > Delimited > select Other and type - (dash) > Finish.

    Doesn't that work for you?
