Generating numbers

How can I program a specific cell to generate a number (sequential) everytime the worksheet is opened. Im trying to generate a number for for purchase orders.

See the attached where an event macro sits behind Sheet 1. Each time the sheet is selected it will add 1 to the cell in A1. Click another tab and then back to sheet 1 to see it work
