How do I assign dollar value to particular products.

I hope I've picked the right forum.
I am trying to make a spreadsheet that follows the sales of my farm's meat products, to turn it into a pivot table. The columns that really matter are: sold to, product, weight, and profit.
The types of sales are: external, internal - employees, internal - family, association, and discarded.
Most of the entry only give the product and the weight, and I am wondering if I can attach values to product names, and then have that multiplied by the weight to get an entry for the profit column.
there are about 20 different products, most of them with different prices.

Set up a table that has your Products in one column and their values in another. Use the VLOOKUP function to get data from the table. Please see attachment for a sample

You would do best to post a sample workbook showing Before and After.

It should clearly illustrate your problem and not contain any sensitive data.

It worked like a charm - I put the pricelist in the next sheet, and linked it back. Now I'm wondering if there's a way to factor in a discount for internal sales, as opposed to external. I'll put up a new post if I can't figure it out, and I will include an example sheet.
