    Red face Calculating Dates

    Dear Forum members,
I have a question. In Excel, is there a way where I can add work days from the past months (5 days a week or 40 hours a week)? For instance. I have a tenant whose employer fiscal year began Oct 1, 2009. I need to break up her year to fit my fiscal calendar year reports. How many days did she work since October 1 to December 31, 2009. How many days did she work from January 1, 2010 to May 18, 2010. Also calculating all the days since October 1, 2009 to May 18. I have to break her salary to each day. I always just count all the weeks but that gets to be a pain.

    Thank you,

    Art

    Re: Calculating Dates

    use the excel "NETWORKDAYS" function
put a string of days in, specify holidays, and use the function in a new cell

Note if you are using Excel 2003 or earlier you will need to install the Analysis Toolpak for the NETWORKDAYS function to be available. To do so go to Tools...Add-Ins.

I am currently using Excel 2007. Networkdays() is a complete new function. Could you send an example on how to use it?

    Re: Calculating Dates

If you put start date in A2 (e.g. 1-Oct-2009) and end date in B2 (e.g. 31-Dec-2009) then this formula will give you working days (Monday to friday) within that range

    =NETWORKDAYS(A2,B2)

If you want the hours multiply by 8, i.e.

    =NETWORKDAYS(A2,B2)*8

This will work great. But how could I figure out the rate of pay per day(Rate is $7.50 an hour)?
