How do I Copy Data from a Sheet to a Sheet in a New Workbook without auto tagging?

I have two workbooks with 3 sheets each. Sheet three has cells with formulas that appear like this:

    =Sheet1!D3

When I copy from the first workbook and paste these cells to a new workbook they apear like this:

    ='[ Service Today.xls]Sheet1'!D3

I need to copy the cells as the formula originally reads. It is automatically adding [Service Today.xls] which is causing the new workbook to refer back to the first. I need it to refer to itself. Going to each cell and deleting this tag is time consuming. Please help!!

    Welcome to the forum.

You're going to need to reenter the formula. Excel doesn't have a way to divine your intent in that fashion, or offer a choice.
Entia non sunt multiplicanda sine necessitate

Thanks for the reply. Wish it was what I wanted to hear haha! I decided to just save my template file as my second workbook. That seems to be easier than re-keying my formula. Thanks again.

Save your template file as a template (xltx). Then the default action is to create a new workbook based on the template.
