Look up value under the reference

This is what my Sheet looks like.

A- John
B- 4
C- Brian
D- 8
E- Aaron
F- 7
G- Paul
H- 10

I have been playing with VLOOKUP and HLOOKUP to try and reference John, Brian, Aaron, or Paul, in order to pull up the number below them.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Please see attached example. The formula assumes the consistency of the value below the name. Also the names must be unique otherwise it will always find the first match.
