    Question Unwanted Decimal Point

I am having a problem with entering a whole number into a cell in a Blank Workbook using Excel 2007.

I try to enter 164092 and when I press Enter it changes to 1640.92 and if I format the cell and select Number Tab > Number and select 0 decimal points Excel then rounds the number up to 16491.

Can anybody help me out with this problem please I just want to be enter whole numbers without the decimal points in the cells.

P.S. When I say a New Workbook I mean a clean one with no formatting or anything.

    Thanks.
    Pedro

    Hi suparoo,
    Welcome to the forum.
Check the "Excel options" > "advanced" > "Auto Insert decimal Points" the box may be checked

Hooray! I knew that it had to be somewhere in the global defaults but couldn't find it. Problem solved for me. Hope that Pedro found it too.
