Copying and Pasting 600 rows - Sheet turns to 65000!!

I have 600 rows, i then apply a filter on information that takes me to 65 rows. I copied and pasted this data into a new spreadsheet, the sheet then turns into 65000 rows. Can anyone explain why this is happening?

    Thanks in advance

Not really. What do the 65000 rows contain?

Every spreadsheet in XL 2002 will have the 65563 or so rows visible. But unless there's data in them, they're not really used.

When you copy filtered data and paste it somewhere, the empty rows between the filtered data will be kept intact. You won't see your pasted data as one block with no blank rows.

The rows after the data contain nothing. It sort of maximizes the spreadsheet once the copied data is pasted in. Its like they were hidden rows that have become visible.

Of all the data there was 600 rows, and when the filter applies its 65 rows worth, so i expected it to go 600 rows or a little more, but not 65563. Just confused me.

    Thanks for the response teylyn.

I don't know what you mean. Every spreadsheet pre 2007 has 65536 rows. After that, it's over a million rows. What's the problem?

Basically what i said in my first post. I'm only wondering why the spreadhseets shows all 65000 rows after you copy and paste the data from a filter. the rows are hidden yes, and you can scroll down and eventually youll get to 65000, but when i copy and paste, the 65000 rows appear automatically. Just confusing! Thanks again

@Martin, nope, you're right, I'm wrong. Must have been thinking about some other thing with "skip blanks". Can't recall what it was, right now.

Edit: I remember what threw me off: you can't select visible cells only and then paste only into the visible cells. The hidden ones will also receive content, but that's nothing to do with this thread.
