Formula to decrease total over time

Hi all, just wondering if theres a way to make a total sum decreace each week. I've just run up a simple budget and have the payment I make each week on a debt and futher down the sheet have the total of the debt. I'd like that total to decreace each week as I make the payment and so I can see the total go down. I know how to make formula's to add/subtract etc. I just like to do it without filling up the sheet with weekly payments. Thanks for any help

Surely you add the payment as a negative, then the total decreases. If it's more complicated attach an example workbook

Yea thats the sort of thing I'm looking for So will the "currant" total increase each week over the 7 weeks automaticaly?

I'm really just wanting to watch my total debt decrease over time automaticaly without having to input a figure each week.

From your exmaple it looks like I have to work out how many weeks it will take to pay back the debt based on my weekly payments, is that correct?

Sorry I can't attach a screen shot at the moment

Yes, the current cell will show the outstanding debt. It will decrease week by week..

    I don't want a screen shot.

If you uploaded a workbook, I would have given you specific formulae.

As it is, I have provided the example formulae; you should be able to adjust them to match the structure of your workbook.

You're welcome. Thanks for the feedback.

If you have still a problem, come back. Ideally, upload a workbook ... it makes life a lot easier.

    Regards
