    Compare two dates

    New to Excel and new to this forum.

    I am desperately trying to develop a formula or build a condition whereby a known expiry date is compared to todays date and if todays date is closer then 30 days or past due, then the expiry date is red and if not then shows/remains black.

    I trust this must be an easy formula but I have no hair left to pull to figure it out any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello Mike,

    You can use conditional formatting for this.

    Today is 24th September so I assume that any date earlier than 24th October should be highlighted today

    If you have a date in A1 then use

    Format > Conditional formatting > choose "formula is" from the dropdown and put this formula in the box

    =A1<TODAY()+30

    then choose formatting
    Audere est facere

    I must be completely inept with this program grrrrrrrrrrrrr I have followed your example to a "t" but still not getting any changes even after choosing formating and selecting the font. Any ideas?

    Thanks,
