switch currency format

Hello fellow forumuers:


I desperatly need help. Im new to excel i have version 2002.
Im trying to write bills: And cant figure out how to switch the displayed currency from the dm (old german currency) to the new euro(.i can get the euro symbol to appear- but only fleetingly-as soon as i press enter the good old dm appears).
If anyone can help me it would surley be appreciated
