    Resources

    Exel cannot complete the task with available resources. :
    using 2003
    I am getting this while attempting a complex if command. When I first started with the spreadsheet it allowed multiple rows to be compied - now I can only do 2 or 3 at a time - sheet is +40,000 records . Any ideas to get past this?

    Thanks in advance.

    Re: Resources

    Try turning off the automatic calculation. In 2003, if I recall, it is under tools, options, calculations. When you need to recalculate, click on F9.

    hi Carfang,

    Welcome to the Forum

    To add to Alan's response please be aware that this may mean other workbooks that you open may end up with the calculation being set to "manual" as Charles mentions...
    Calculation Settings Keep Changing
    Because a number of Excel's calculation settings work at the application level (they are the same for all open workbooks), and are set by the first workbook opened, they may appear to change randomly depending on the sequence in which workbooks are opened.

    Can you please post your complicated If statement?
    We may be able to suggest some improvements that will decrease the drain on resources. Check out the different frames on Charles site for some general suggestions, for example: http://www.decisionmodels.com/optspeed.htm & esp http://www.decisionmodels.com/optspeedb.htm

    Note: It is likely that you will be able to make a lot of improvements from his suggestions without purchasing his "FastExcel", but it is there if you want it. I've never used it but I am sure that it is very good.
