    Post Formula to increase number

I need to increase a number but there is a recurring word in the cell..

    Example:

    martin1
    martin2
    martin3
    martin4

    Formula for increasing the number?

    Thanks in advance

Just select the first two cells in that sequence and drag down.

Thanks but unfortunately I don't know what that means.

I highlighted the first two cells, martin1 and martin 2
I copied and pasted below but not sure if it needs to be paste special or what.

    Thanks,

    Select those two cells.

At the bottom right of the selection marquee is a small square called the fill handle. When you hover the mouse over the fill handle, the cursor changes to a cross. When that happens, left click the mouse and drag down.
