Subtotal Filters & Helper Columns

Hi Experts,

Can you help I am missing the obvious somewhere. I have a monthly data sheet A:Q sorted by subtotals 1 2 3 in excel 2003

I have devised helper columns R&S to be added later with countif formula looking for L N R V etc in column H which works fine , as the data will vary every month and the subtotals will appear in different cells each time.

As part of the helper formulae I want to refer to the subtotals each month and work out averages from the subtotals see example sheet.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I am confused on what it is you want to average.. is it all the cells with an asterisk next to them? Please give examples of what your expected results would be.
