Red face Extracting dates from cell with text

I referred to the previously posted comments and solutions and it returned an error:

I am trying to extract the date from a few cells in excel as follows:

    from
    Promotion 10/08/10 Free - E2
    Requested 12/20/10 - G2

    to
    10/08/10 - F2
    12/20/10 - G2

    Please help!

    Thanks!

What's the E2 and G2? Are those the cells they are in or are those part of the text?

Is the date consistently after the 1st word?
Where there is a will there are many ways.

If it is always the second string, try:

    =0+TRIM(MID(SUBSTITUTE(A1," ",REPT(" ",100)),100,100))

    format to date.
