How to fix a single cell reference while the others may change?

    hi guys,
suppose i've used a formula for cell C18 and the formula is =A3*D3/E3 . now if i drag the cell C18 to copy the formula in for the cell C19, the formula will become =A4*D4/E4 automatically. but i dont want cell reference of E3 to change in the formula. so i want my formula to be =A4*D4/E3.
So are there any ways to fix the cell reference of E3 in the first formula so that when i drag the formula, every other reference will change accordingly except E3?

Put dollar $ sign before 3, or copy this formula:

hmm, but if i drag the formula vertically then the dollar sign works. but if i drag it horrizontally then E$3 becomes F$3 again. is there any solution? i want it to be absolutely constant.

That feature is called Absolute and Relative Referencing and is very important to know.

Here is a link that explains it:

suppose I have a value of 20 in cell a1. that number may be 10 the next time i put a number in a1 how do i make a1 goto zero after a short time or when i put 20 in the first time how do i make h1 show 20 the h2 show 10 and h3 show 20 and so on the input number may be from 1 to 24. at the end of 50 entries i can do a sum of all entries under the h collum and use that value but I dont know how to get there!
